The Meter Base Surge Protection that Arkansas Valley offers for lease to you, our members, is your FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE against power surges or lightning strikes that may enter your home.

What is a power surge?

It is a dramatic increase in the electric power that enters your home through power lines, TV cables, and phone lines. Arkansas Valley makes every effort to supply our members with reliable power, but sometimes lightning storms and localized conditions (birds and animals in contact with power lines, auto accidents, etc.) can cause damaging power surges.

Although Arkansas Valley cannot protect your home against power surges entering your home via phone lines, TV cable, satellite cable, etc., we can protect your major household appliances such as refrigerator, freezer, washer, dryer, water heater, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, etc., against surges entering through the electrical service with our meter base surge protection program.

Why do I need Surge Protection at my home now, if I have never needed it before?

Power surges are unpredictable and as major home appliances become more expensive and we acquire more and more of them in our home, it gives more peace of mind to know they are protected against loss by blocking power surges from entering our home at the meter.

Installation:

• In the meter base
• 2 diagnostic lights indicates ground is present and surge protection is functional

Arkansas Valley Electric service personnel will install the surge protection device at your location as soon as possible after a lease agreement is signed by you, the member. This agreement assures that you will pay a $5.00 per month fee, included on your electric bill, for a period of at least one year from the date of installation.
