Washington Youth Tour

Each spring, AVECC selects multiple high school juniors to attend Washington Youth Tour. The winners are chosen through an interview process.

Youth Tour is a leadership-based opportunity for students to connect with their community and cooperative. The selected students will represent AVECC as they join students from electric cooperatives across the nation in Washington, D.C.  for the opportunity to meet Arkansas’ congressional delegation, visit historic sites, learn about the workings of their nation’s government and learn how electric cooperatives' impact our rural communities.

Students selected will receive a $500 college scholarship from AVECC as well as an opportunity to earn a $5,000 scholarship from the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas.

Eligibility:

  • To be eligible for Youth Tour, applicants must be high school juniors enrolled at a local high school or homeschool, whose parents or guardians are AVECC members.
  • Immediate family members of Arkansas Valley Electric employees and directors are not eligible.
