Taylor Horn | MSR Intern

As a Junior Elementary Education Major at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, Taylor is interning at AVECC's Waldron District in the Member Services Department this summer.

Taylor expressed her deep appreciation for the cooperative's " laid-back " environment and her co-workers' kindness. She continued, "I learn so much from the Member Service Representatives, Rachel and Christal. They are wonderful women. I learn a lot by sitting back and watching Clay and Steven. And, of course, I always ask a lot of questions."

"My dad, Brian Horn, started as a lineman at Arkansas Valley when he was eighteen, and has worked here for over twenty-eight years. Arkansas Valley Electric means a lot to my family."

"My dad is and always has been my hero," Taylor explained. "It's scary watching him leave to work in the middle of storms, but that is just what linemen do. Watching him work so hard is so inspiring."

Upon graduation, she hopes to return to her hometown of Waldron to teach.

One of her favorite aspects of the internship is her daily interactions with the members. "I get to see so many people throughout my day. It makes my day to tell our members to 'have a good day.' I have learned that I love doing that, and it will help me to be a better teacher someday."
