Karen Stovall | Employee of the Year
Karen started working for the cooperative in 2018 as a Member Services Representative. Two years ago, she transitioned into a Team Lead position, working with seven Member Service Representatives as their go-to in the Call Center.
Over the past six years, Karen has been nicknamed the “GOAT,” aka “Greatest of All Time,” by co-workers and managers. “I answer 50-100 calls daily, helping members with different needs and questions about their electric or WAVE services. I never know what I will be helping a member with when I pick up the phone,” Karen explains.
She continues, “As a voice for AVECC, I think it’s important for our members to know they are valued. All our Member Services Representatives are local. We care enough that whatever their problem is, we want to fix that for them."

This year, Karen’s name sat alongside Sonny Bowman of the Ozark District and Wes English of the Pocola District.
“I was shocked because both gentlemen have been here for years. I thought being in the top three with Sonny and Wes was an honor. Then, to be named Employee of the Year is so humbling. I am so grateful and still shocked that my co-workers would choose me. It’s the biggest honor I’ve ever had.”
She continued, “I know out of 200 people, there are probably 199 people out there that deserve that more than I do. But I am very, very grateful. AVECC is truly the best place I've ever worked."
