Nominating Committee Selected

The bylaws of Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative require the Board of Directors to appoint a nominating committee at least 120 days before a meeting of the members at which directors are to be elected. Committee members are selected from different areas of the cooperative’s service territory to ensure equitable representation. Under the cooperative’s bylaws, members of the Board of Directors are not eligible to serve on the committee.

The following cooperative members have been selected to serve on the 2026 Nominating Committee: Tim O’Kelley of Crawford County; Louis Reece of Johnson County; Wayne Barton of Sebastian County; Don McDonald of Sebastian County; Don Vanderpool of Scott County; Lonnie Turner of Franklin County; and Billy Sampley of Johnson County.

The committee will meet March 26, at the cooperative headquarters in Ozark. Keeping in mind the principle of geographic representation, the committee will prepare and post a list of director nominations at the cooperative’s principal office at least 75 days before the meeting of the members. The list may include more candidates than the number of directors to be elected.

One percent or more of cooperative members, acting collectively, may make additional nominations by petition no fewer than 45 days prior to the meeting of the members. Petitions and additional information may be obtained from the cooperative. The secretary of the Board of

Directors will post these nominations at the same location as the nominations submitted by the Nominating Committee.

The secretary of the cooperative will mail, with the notice of the meeting or separately, a statement listing the number of directors to be elected and the names and addresses of all candidates. This statement will be mailed at least 10 days before the election and will specify which nominations were made by the Nominating Committee and which were made by cooperative members.
