Matt O'Bar - Student Athlete of the Week

Arkansas Valley Electric and Wave Rural Connect #StudentAthleteOfTheWeek is Matt O’Bar. 

Matt is a senior and center/right guard for the Booneville Bearcats. As a key player on the offensive line, Matt has been instrumental in helping gain the yardage the Bearcats need to win.

Matt shared his deep appreciation for the support he and his team receive and is honored to represent Booneville on the field. “It is an honor to play for this team and community." He continued, "Everyone has always been out there to support us. Our entire community does what they can to help the school and our team. It’s just an unreal environment in our home stadium.”

Matt speaks highly of his teammates, acknowledging their hard work and willingness to step up and fill any gaps in the team. The Bearcats started out their season up against the Ozark Hillbillies and came out on top. Matt believes that though his team is young, they have the potential to go far this season. He explained, “We keep getting better each week, and I think we have a good shot at going back to [the state championship in] Little Rock this year.”
