Outside Plant Fiber Designer | 1.5 Years

"I started at WAVE in 2020 as a fiber tech and moved to Outside Plant Fiber Designer for AVECC a little over a year and a half ago. My daily tasks consist of designing new fiber routes for members within our territory and designing fiber systems to reach beyond our territory. I work directly with our contractors and in-house fiber techs, keeping all maps, splice matrixes, and test results up to date to ensure the troubleshooting and fixing of any damaged fiber can happen as efficiently as possible. I like that I work with so many different folks within all aspects of the company daily. Working with people who are so full of knowledge and genuinely care about the members is humbling and rewarding. As someone who grew up in small-town Wisconsin and traveled the country doing fiber optics for the last ten years, I appreciate the community's small-town feel."
